#NYFW 2017: PAMELLA ROLAND @ PIER 59 STUDIOS

Pamella Roland Spring/Summer 2018

#NYFWSS2018 starts softly with haphazard drizzle, overcast skies and a loose lethargy. Slinking towards Pier 59 Studios Thursday evening--pizza in tow--the somber streets strengthen a craving for sartorial splendor. Whetting my appetite for Fashion Week, Pamella Roland pushes the tempo with formalwear inspired by a recent family trip to the Grand Prix of Monaco. Amid bold brights and sheer lights, feathers and crystal cascade down a star studded catwalk with attendees the likes of Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, actress + Miss USA 2012 Olivia Culpo, Victoria's Secret model Nadine Leopold and famed photographer Nigel Barker. Simply sheer

Answering appeals of affluent clientele, Roland's Spring/Summer 2018 collection offers a mélange of silhouettes ranging from a simple white strapless with subtle sequins, to crystal-encrusted elegance framing a deep cut V and cascading ruffles. Sheer and shimmer balance solid and sleek. Audible rumbles from the audience affirm two show favorites: a pink and white feathered cocktail dress and the show closer--a cream and blue ombre gown featuring a defined waist and bouffant bodice. The glitz and glamour of Roland's designs are complemented with a fresh face and natural makeup by Rick DiCecca's artistic team.

All in the details...
