JILL STUART FALL 2017

Jill Stuart Fall 2017 presented in 2 Acts; model in sheer black velvet and lace dress

Medieval goth meets Victorian charm as luxurious gold and dark hues up-scale velvet and lace. Inspired by a love of essential oils, Jill Stuart accounts, "clothes are like a favorite song or a favorite perfume." Leaving room for interpretation, her Autumn 2017 collection embodies an essence of complexity through a contradictory discourse of "show" and wearability. Set in the lobby of a former AT&T headquarters in the Financial District, giant marble columns surround models on pedestals. The grandeur of the space complements the sheer artistic splendor of the collection. Keep reading for more...

The well-dressed crowd takes photos as a model walks by

Despite snow-speckled streets, a sea of fancy frocks and fur--some more impressive than the collection at hand--turn up at Jill Stuart's designated sky-lit space Saturday morning. Models parade in over two "Acts" and linger long enough to tease the crowd, as the time allowed was less-than-adequate for maneuvering through the masses to view all the looks. Celebrities, fashion insiders and media alike ooze over the fascinating fabric blends and profound conceptualization.

Velvet + Lace + Sheer = staples this season!

Lengthy dresses in color blocked layers and fabric blends accompany sheer shirts with puffs, ruffles and ties. On the models, a mini braid on each cheek frames ashen faces with natural or deep red lips. The borderline disheveled hair projects a half peasant / half princess persona. A single dangling earring and a spatter of jewelry by Janis Savitt complete the looks. Viewers can easily become engrossed in the details of the hide-and-seek styling.
