SENT @GROUPE NYC by SEIZE SUR VINGT

Groupe by Seize Sur Vingt at 198 Bowery presents Sent by Victor Roman

Ambling down Bowery St., Seize Sur Vingt's new outpost provides momentary relief from trying temperatures. Coined Groupe NYC, the brand's new concept space expands beyond luxe men's product to include casual, sport, street and women's. Inside, artist Victor Roman exhibits Sent the second installment of his "DIGI-COM" series, amid the robes and racks of Groupe's current collection.  Artwork by Victor Roman at Groupe NYC

Ten original 3' x 3' paintings and a video installation by Victor Roman combine distorted words and contextual isolation to illustrate "a continued conversation between technology and humanity" [artist statement]. With white words against colors on canvas, "Sent takes an ethnographic approach to the virtual reality we have come to live in." Purposefully placed among the attire offerings, "Sent invites the audience to become observers of their own digital habitats and to be confronted by their own humanity or lack thereof" [source]. The exhibit will continue at Groupe until January 31st.

As the "world's first true vertically integrated fashion collective / incubator" [Groupe], Seize Sur Vingt seeks to 'change the narrative' of fashion's future by removing roadblocks from the creative process and supporting emerging designers from sketch through production, into point of sale/retail. In an era of constant content, consumers aspire to engage with designers (events, social media, etc.); designers face the challenge of fast fashion economies of scale undermining pricing and craftsmanship. Groupe levels the playing field. Stop by 198 Bowery to witness the advancement of a new design dialogue.
